Valdez anoints Kianne Olango as “future of Philippine volleyball”

It’s one thing to be called the future of Philippine volleyball. It's a whole another level if you get called that by Alyssa Valdez.

Kianne Olango of the Nazareth School of National University must feel special. From the looks of it, she is also primed to be a special player.

In a video posted by Puso Pilipinas, Olango played a game where the interviewer gives her various words, and then she has to say what's top of mind.

When it came to "volleyball," the 17-year-old spiker immediately said "Alyssa Valdez."

The Creamline star then shared the tweet, wishing Olango good luck, and then declaring that she is going to be one of the future stars of Philippine volleyball.

Valdez, who has been at the spotlight since her high school days, knows a thing or two about being the future of Philippine volleyball. She has since carried that torch into being the center of the sport in the country.

Olango, though, seems to be following the footsteps of Valdez, already winning multiple titles and MVP awards in the process. She was recruited to NSNU from Cebu City at just 14 years old. And like Valdez, Olango is also an opposite spiker, helping her team put points in the scoreboard.

At just 17 years old, Olango seems destined for greatness. She will have a chance to prove that once more when the NUGVT competes in the Rebisco Volleyball League U18.

But the question on everyone’s mind is: Will Kianne also continue Alyssa’s journey and transfer to Ateneo? Or will she stay in NU come her collegiate days?
