The Cignal Super Spikers continue to be a thorn for the PLDT High Speed Hitters after handing them their first defeat in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Cignal Super Spikers returned to the win column after pulling off a stunning sweep of the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil Centre in San Juan on Tuesday, February 24.
After being dealt their first loss against Nxled, Cignal bounced back in a big way, dealing PLDT—previously the lone unbeaten team—its first loss in the conference. This means that no team in the All-Filipino race will secure the direct semifinal entry.
In the third set, the Super Spikers distanced themselves after Jackie Acuña's service ace for a 16-11 lead. But the High Speed Hitters would come right back with a 6-0 run to retake the lead.
But just when PLDT looked poised to take the momentum, Erika Santos came alive to fire Cignal back into a 20-17 lead.
The Super Spikers held on to their slim lead to secure the momentum-building victory, improving to 4-1 for solo first in the standings.
Meanwhile, the High Speed Hitters slid to 3-1, tied for second with the Creamline Cool Smashers.
Gel Cayuna orchestrated the offense with 18 excellent points and nine points.
Cignal will go for back-to-back wins against the Akari Chargers on Saturday, February 28, at the same venue.
