Eya Laure didn’t hesitate to point to Sisi Rondina as the biggest reason behind her decision to join the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

After two years out of the league, PVL teams were quick to recruit the former Chery Tiggo star, hoping she’d be the missing piece to their title run.

But in the end, Laure chose Choco Mucho, likening Rondina's recruitment to being persistently—and playfully—courted.

“I think yung pinaka-deciding factor talaga si Ate Sisi. Para siyang manliligaw talaga sa akin—makulit,” Laure laughingly told One Sports.

"Sabi ko, 'Ah gusto niya pala ako maging ka-teammate, kala ko gusto niya ako makalaban lagi'," she added.

Laure added that the comfort level between her and Rondina made the decision easier, built on years of playing together across different stages of their careers.

"May mga bagay lang din na talagang pagkasama ko si Ate Sisi, nagkakaintindihan na kami. Hindi na kailangan i-explain pa or kung ano man," the 26-year-old spiker said.

“Na-test na ‘yung relationship namin sa UST, na-test na ‘yung relationship namin sa national team.”

Still finding their groove

The move marks the first time the duo will suit up together at the professional level—something Laure admitted she didn’t expect after years of meeting Rondina across the net.

“Kala ko gusto niya ako makalaban lagi,” Laure said. “Pag nakakalaban ko siya, namomotivate din ako. Pero ayun, gusto niya pala akong maging ka-teammate.”

Beyond the playful “panliligaw,” Laure said joining the Flying Titans also offered the fresh start she was looking for after a challenging year.

“Parang fresh start talaga na let’s do this,” she said. “Parang okay, kasama ko na tong mga taong to for the next years and kumbaga bagong opportunity ulit to be better.”

With Rondina still easing back from beach volleyball duties and Laure adjusting to coach Dante Alinsunurin’s system, both players are embracing the process as they settle into their new roles.

“Maganda lang sa training kasi nagpupukpukan kaming dalawa,” Laure said. “Tinutulungan namin ang isa’t isa na makabalik.”
