Jerrick Ahanmisi powered the Terrafirma Dyip's impressive 2-0 start in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup to earn the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week honors.
Terrafirma is off to a dream start to its PBA Commissioner’s Cup, with Jerrick Ahanmisi being one of the catalysts.
Ahanmisi was crucial in the back-to-back victories the Dyip pulled one at the expense of the Titan Ultra Giant Risers and the favored Converge FiberXers.
"I think the team has shown a lot of chemistry, but the coaches keep stressing to have fun with the game," said Ahanmisi, who was named the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the period of March 11 to 15.
Heeding to those beliefs allowed the Dyip to register their first 2-0 start since the 2024 Philippine Cup, the last time the struggling franchise made the playoffs.
That also was one of the reasons why Ahanmisi was adjudged as the first winner of the weekly nod for the second conference of the league’s 50th season, edging out NLEX's Robert Bolick and the Phoenix duo of Ricci Rivero and Evan Nelle.
Press Corps members covering the PBA beat also took into consideration the efforts of Bolick, Rivero and Nelle for the similar 2-0 records of their respective teams, but Ahanmisi’s performance weighed heavily.
Ahanmisi posted 20.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals during the two wins that also saw import Ali Mubashar, Paolo Hernandez and rookie Geo Chiu play key roles.
His best game came against Titan Ultra in the conference opener last March 11, firing 17 of his 28 in the third quarter for a 112-82 rout at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

That performance came after Ahanmisi became the first player to win two skills events at the PBA All-Star Weekend when he took the Obstacle Challenge and Three-Point Shootout in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
