Coast-to-Coast: Spurs join Thunder in reaching 50 wins; Hawks win streak hits 10

The Spurs’ claiming win no. 50, Luka Doncic fueling the Lakers’ sixth straight victory, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s career performance for the Hawks’ 10th win in a row headlined Tuesday’s NBA slate.

SPURS HIT 50-WIN MARK; HAWKS, LAKERS STAY HOT

  • San Antonio Spurs (50-18) def. LA Clippers (34-34), 119-115: For the first time since the 2016-17 campaign, the Spurs hit the 50-win mark with a road reversal over the Clippers. 

Victor Wembanyama delivered 21 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks as San Antonio joined the reigning champions OKC Thunder as the second team this season to reach the milestone.

  • Atlanta Hawks (37-31) def. Orlando Magic (38-29), 124-112: Nickeil Alexander-Walker caught fire for a career-high 41 points built on nine triples, spearheading the Hawks’ 10th straight win at the expense of the Magic.

  • LA Lakers (43-25) def. Houston Rockets (41-26), 100-92: Luka Doncic erupted for 36 points as the Lakers clamped down on the Rockets in the fourth quarter, limiting Houston to just 12 points to stretch their winning streak to six.

  • Boston Celtics (45-23) def. Phoenix Suns (38-29), 120-112: Jaylen Brown saved his biggest punches for the fourth quarter, pouring in 18 of his 41 points as the Celtics fended off Devin Booker and completed a season sweep of the Suns.

Booker answered with 40 points of his own, but Boston still had enough down the stretch to secure back-to-back wins. 

 

  • Golden State Warriors (33-35) def. Washington Wizards (16-51), 130-125: Against his former team, the Wizards, Kristaps Porzingis scored 30 points in 26 minutes to help the Warriors snap a five-game skid.

The win also gave Golden State head coach Steve Kerr his 600th regular-season victory, while Washington absorbed its 12th straight loss.

 

  • Portland Trail Blazers(33-36) def. Brooklyn Nets (17-51), 114-95: Behind 18 points each from Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara, the Trail Blazers took care of business on the road and piled a fourth consecutive loss on the Nets.

 

  • Chicago Bulls (28-40) def. Memphis Grizzlies (23-34), 132-107: Matas Buzelis unloaded 18 of his 29 points in the third quarter, while Josh Giddey dazzled with a 16-point, 15-rebound, and 13-assist triple-double as the Bulls piled more misery on the reeling Grizzlies.

 

  • New Orleans Pelicans (23-46) def. Dallas Mavericks (23-46), 129-111: Zion Williamson and Saddiq Bey joined forces for 50 points, powering the Pelicans past the Mavericks on Monday for their third win in four games.
