With most PVL teams undergoing major roster changes, the Cignal Super Spikers head into the 2026 All-Filipino Conference leaning heavily on continuity.

The Super Spikers made just one addition during the offseason, opting to keep a core that has played together across multiple conferences.

For star spiker Vanie Gandler, that familiarity remains Cignal’s biggest advantage in a wide-open field.

“We’re pretty motivated still, of course. What’s good that we’re still the same core is that we had the time to build the connection—not just from the offseason, but through the years,” Gandler told One Sports.

“We really focused on our team and the little things that we need to polish from the last conferences, from all the struggles we have.”

Full confidence with Cignal's tested core

Gandler said the extended time together has only strengthened her confidence in the group, especially coming off their training camp in Japan.

“I’m very confident in my team because I know how my team works. We have really good coaches,” she said.

“If I look at my teammates, I really see that they’re all great players like Gel Cayuna, Erika Santos, Jackie Acuña, ate Rose Doria-Aquino, and ate Dawn [Catindig]. These are players that I look up to, and I’m grateful that I have them with me on court.”

Now more seasoned after international stints with Alas Pilipinas, Gandler is also clear about what she hopes to bring individually this season.

“It’s always to do my best for the team,” she said.

“Now that I have more experience with the international stage and playing with Alas, I really hope to bring my maturity on court, share what I’ve learned, and bring positive energy to the team.”
