Vanie Gandler has officially signed a long-term contract extension with the Cignal HD Spikers on Friday, May 23.

After two years with the team, Gandler continues to commit her future to the HD Spikers, which she believes is on the verge of something special.

“It wasn’t hard at all,” Gandler told reporters. “My job with the team isn’t done. We’ve been trying to reach the championship. We’re almost there, but not quite yet—so hopefully, we’re able to reach it soon.”

Gandler’s re-signing comes on the heels of a strong 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, where she finished eighth in overall scoring with 163 total points.

She also ranked sixth in both serving with 12 aces and receiving with a 27.70% efficiency, further solidifying her status as one of the league’s most well-rounded outside hitters.

Since turning pro, Gandler has not only expanded her skillset but also grown into a leadership role within the HD Spikers. Much of that, she says, is thanks to the trust of her teammates and the guidance of head coach Shaq Delos Santos.

“Coach Shaq is really good at developing players’ skills,” said Gandler. “But more than that, I’ve matured a lot. I’ve become more confident in playing and leading because of the environment we’ve built—one with open communication where everyone’s trying to help each other become the best version of ourselves.”

That culture of trust and growth has fueled Gandler’s desire to stay, even as she knows the road ahead won’t always be smooth.

“There will be times we struggle, conferences where things won’t go our way,” she said. “But those hurdles are part of the journey. I’ve had down years before, and those setbacks always push me harder. I’m excited not just for the wins, but for how much I’ll grow through everything.”

With the extension now signed, Gandler is doubling down on one goal: a championship.

“Nothing more, nothing less,” she said. “That’s been the goal for Cignal for years. We’re very hungry for one. We have the talent, the players, and the tools we need. Now it’s about pushing each other and building on what we already have.”

Gandler will lead the HD Spikers alongside the likes of Dawn Catindig, Gel Cayuna, and Ishie Lalongisip.
