From a 0–2 start to ending the biggest streaks of the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference, the Cignal Super Spikers have transformed into the ultimate streak busters.
What began as a shaky campaign has turned into one of the most surprising turnarounds of the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
From a winless start to becoming the league’s unexpected streak-stoppers, the Cignal Super Spikers have carved out an identity built on chemistry and a habit of taking down the PVL’s hottest teams.
Here’s a look at the Super Spikers’ streak-busting performances in the conference.
Ending PLDT’s 15-game winning streak
PLDT entered the Smart Araneta Coliseum on November 4 carrying a 15-game winning streak dating back to their PVL on Tour title run. Many expected a routine victory over a Cignal side still adjusting from Eva Chantava’s departure.
Instead, Cignal delivered the biggest shock of the conference.
The Super Spikers swept the two-time PVL champions, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21, behind an inspired performance from their locals.
Hours after news broke of Chantava’s departure, the locals responded with their most complete outing of the season, flipping the narrative of the Super Spikers’ campaign.
Gel Cayuna orchestrated the offense with 20 excellent sets and chipped in six points, while Ishie Lalongisip flirted with a triple-double after producing 15 points, 11 receptions, and eight digs.
Fittingly, it was former PLDT scorer Erika Santos who led the way, firing 17 attack points in Cignal’s first win of the import-laden conference.

Stopping ZUS Coffee’s 6–0 Start
Come the second round, Cignal found itself facing another undefeated opponent.
The Thunderbelles had emerged as the breakout story of the Reinforced Conference, opening the tournament with a spotless 6–0 record.
The Super Spikers once again said no.
Cignal turned in a composed, no-fear performance in a 25-12, 26-24, 25-23 sweep to hand the Thunderbelles their first loss of the conference.
Santos delivered another explosive outing with 19 points on 13 attacks, three blocks, and three aces. Import Katrin Trebichavska complemented her with 13 points and 14 excellent receptions.

Derailing Creamline’s three-game surge
By the time Cignal faced Creamline to close the eliminations, the Super Spikers had already taken down the league’s hottest teams. But they weren’t done yet.
In a five-set battle that showcased their resilience, the Super Spikers outlasted the Cool Smashers, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-11, snapping the defending champions’ three-game win streak and securing huge momentum entering the playoffs.
Trebichavska led the way with 20 points and nine receptions, while Vanie Gandler added 15 points and middle blocker Roselyn Doria-Aquino chipped in 12 markers.

A team redefined by resilience
From a shaky and uncertain 0-2 start to becoming the conference’s biggest disruptor, Cignal has rewritten its identity in just over a month.
With momentum on their side, the Super Spikers enter the knockout phase with confidence and belief that they can take on any team as vie for the franchise’s first PVL title.
