The Creamline Cool Smashers are back to their deadly form after sweeping the Farm Fresh Foxies en route to the PVL on Tour semifinals.
The Creamline Cool Smashers will make their way to another semifinals after making quick work of the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25–19, 25–19, 26–24, in the PVL on Tour quarterfinals Saturday at the PhilSports Arena.
Coming off a 19-day break, the Cool Smashers found their championship groove once again, slowing down the Foxies, which saw Riri Meneses and Ces Molina join the squad on the bench.
In control for the entire game, Jema Galanza and Alyssa Valdez steered Creamline to a comfortable five-point lead early in the third frame.
Despite the Foxies’ efforts to trim the deficit, the Cool Smashers did not lack in attacking options, with Michele Gumabao and Pangs Panaga also contributing to hold on to their lead.
Farm Fresh would show one last fight in them after tying the game at 24-all after Gumabao’s error.
But Gumabao would make up for the miscue with a down-the-line hit, which put Creamline at match point. Panaga’s service ace then sealed the victory.
Kyle Negrito orchestrated the Cool Smashers' victory with 21 excellent sets to go along with six points, five of which came as service aces.
Creamline will face the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the semifinals on Tuesday, August 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
