The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are the only undefeated team left in Pool B after powering past the Cignal HD Spikers in four sets in the PVL on Tour.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers keep their perfect record in the PVL on Tour after frustrating the Cignal HD Spikers in four sets, 25-13, 26-28, 25-15, 25-15, at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo City Saturday, July 19.
The Crossovers improved to 3-0 for first place in Pool B, while the HD Spikers dropped their first match for a 3-1 record.
Third-round pick Renee Peñafiel continued her strong performances in the preseason tilt, finishing with 18 points on 12 attacks, three blocks, and three service aces.
In the fourth set, Chery Tiggo once again piled on the pressure from the service line as the Crossovers pounced on Cignal’s poor first ball to build an 11-6 advantage.
With momentum on their side, the Crossovers only continued to extend their lead by as many as nine points at 21-12 after Aby Maraño’s dump from an over receive.
Chery Tiggo would go on to close out the match after back-to-back errors by Cignal rookie Jessa Ordiales.
Up next for the unbeaten Crossovers will be the reeling Creamline Cool Smashers tomorrow, July 20, in the same venue.
