The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles showed great composure to take down the Creamline Cool Smashers in five sets, 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 15-11 in the PVL on Tour at the City of Passi Arena in Iloilo City Saturday, July 19.

It was a neck-and-neck battle between both squads in the fifth set until the 5-all mark, where ZUS Coffee raced to a crucial four-point lead at 10-6 behind Chinnie Arroyo.

Jema Galanza tried her best to spark some life for Creamline after scoring three straight points to cut the deficit to just two points, 9-11.

But veterans Fiola Ceballos and Jovelyn Gonzaga restored order for the Thunderbelles with three straight hits to reach match point.

Michele Gumabao managed to get one back for the Cool Smashers, followed by an attack error by Gonzaga. However, Rose Vargas’ serve sailed wide, sealing the win for the Jerry Yee-led squad.

Arroyo starred in the crucial win, ZUS Coffee's first against Creamline, finishing with a game-high 23 points on 22 attacks and one service ace.

With the win, ZUS Coffee improved to 2-1 in Pool B standings, while Creamline dropped its second straight match.
