The Cignal HD Spikers pull off a stunning sweep of the Creamline Cool Smashers, 25-22, 25-18, 28-26, in the PVL on Tour on Tuesday, July 1, at the Playtime FilOil Centre in San Juan.

With the victory, the HD Spikers remain perfect in Pool B with a 3-0 record, while the Cool Smashers dropped to 2-1.

Trailing 5-10 in the third set, Cignal managed to trim the deficit slowly but surely, before eventually taking the lead at 17-16 after back-to-back points by Erika Santos.

With momentum on their side, the HD Spikers snatched their biggest lead in the frame at 22-17 after Gel Cayuna’s dump, which found itself inside the taraflex.

The Cool Smashers threatened to mount a comeback after cutting the deficit to just two points at 21-23. However, Kyle Negrito’s serve failed to cross the net, putting Cignal at match point.

Michele Gumabao would get one back with a cross-court kill before back-to-back errors from Santos tied the game at 24-all.

Still tied at 26-all, the HD Spikers turned to rising star Ishie Lalongisip, who delivered back-to-back attacks to seal the win.

The last time Cignal defeated Creamline was back in the 2022 Reinforced Conference semifinals.

Gel Cayuna was hailed the Player of the Game with 22 excellent sets to go along with five points.

The HD Spikers will have a long break ahead of them as their next assignment will be in Passi City, Iloilo, from July 19-20 against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers and ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
