Capital1 co-owner Milka Romero says three-time UAAP MVP Bella Belen is a strong candidate for the top pick, but the final choice will align with the team’s long-term PVL vision.
Capital1 Solar Spikers co-owner Milka Romero is keeping her cards close to the chest ahead of the 2025 PVL Draft—but she isn’t denying the obvious: Bella Belen is in the conversation.
Holding the no. 1 overall pick after winning the 2025 PVL Draft Lottery, the Solar Spikers find themselves in a pivotal position as they eye a franchise-defining selection.
And while the team is in no rush to lock in its top choice, Romero confirmed that the three-time UAAP MVP is very much part of their internal discussions.
“I take it day by day. Of course, nasa shortlist siya—that’s what I can say,” Romero told reporters. “But what the team needs is more important, and it all depends on what fits our long-term plan with the management and coaching staff.”
Romero emphasized that Capital1’s decision won’t be based solely on hype or public expectation, but on strategic foresight.
“We don’t want to think only of the moment. We want to think of next year and many more seasons to come [as to] who can help build the foundation of this team.”

The 60-player rookie class of 2025 feature an impressive mix of collegiate stars, including Belen, who is considered the top prospect by many.
However, Romero reiterated that the final decision will come after the PVL Draft Combine, set for May 30–31 at Paco Arena. The Combine will be crucial, as Belen herself can still actually pull out of the Draft by that time.
“Of course, we have a shortlist,” Romero said. “But we want to see everyone from a technical, statistical, and performance point of view. We don’t want to bring our hopes up just yet.”

Romero added that the depth of talent in this year’s draft makes the decision even more exciting and challenging.
“Marami talagang mapagpipilian in this draft, and it’s very exciting to watch. We’re spoiled for choice. Hopefully, this momentum continues for our franchise, not just for the first pick, but also throughout this new PVL season.”
