Krich Macaslang finally got to play in front of her fellow Cebuanos as PVL All-Filipino Conference action went to her home province on Saturday, Dec. 7.
For Nxled Chameleons’ Krich Macaslang, returning to her roots in Cebu was more than just another game — it was a heartfelt homecoming.
Unfortunately, the Chameleons suffered another straight-set loss to the undefeated Cignal HD Spikers, 18-25, 22-25, 23-22 in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Minglanilla Sports Complex in the province.
Still, Macaslang, who contributed three points in the match, could not help but savor the opportunity to play in front of her fellow Cebuanos.
“I feel so happy pa rin kahit na we didn't get the win,” Macaslang said with a smile after match.
“Nagkaroon ako ng chance na ipakita 'yung skills ko, ipakita 'yung skills ng team ko sa mga Cebuano na sumusuporta sa'min, mga bumiyahe ng malayo pa. I'm really grateful to have the chance to show them what PVL is and what PVL has,” she added.
The promising middle blocker cherished the energy of the crowd, who cheered enthusiastically throughout the match.
She expressed how surreal it felt to be recognized in her home province, a moment she described as both humbling and inspiring.
“It still feels so surreal na people know me pala, especially here in Cebu na sobrang nakakataba ng puso. Kasi they know me and, who knows, I inspire them as a player. Parang na-realize ko rin na, 'Wow, yeah, I think I've made it.' People know me na,” said the 23-year-old Macaslang.
The Chameleons, however, will head into the Christmas break with a 0-5 record.
Macaslang and the rest of the young Nxled squad hope to turn things around next year when the PVL resumes on Jan. 18 as they face Farm Fresh at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
