Petro Gazz is finally back in the winning haven.

The Angels got their act together and showed their championship form, posting a strong 25-18, 25-21, and 25-18 sweep of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday, August 6.

Veteran setter Chie Saet displayed angelic playmaking on her way to secure the Player of the Game honors with 15 excellent sets and 7 excellent digs. Petro Gazz now hiked their record to a 2-3 win-loss slate, good for no.4 spot in Pool B and will be among the bottom three teams–alongside the Choco Mucho and the Zus Coffee – who will face the top three squads in Pool A in Pool D.

Import Wilma Salas paced the Angels with a team-high 18 markers while reigning All-Filipino Conference MVP Brooke Van Sickle contributed 17 markers for the Angels, who scored their first sweep in almost three weeks.

Furthermore, the two-time champions stopped the bleeding after suffering three-straight setbacks, and now looking to keep their winning momentum in the crossover phase.

The Angels took control in pretty much most of the game and scored the sweep via a Wilma Salas hit for their first win since their tournament-opener.

Petro Gazz raced to a fast start in the second set, 16-9, but Choco Mucho rallied back on a 3-0 run when Luth Malaluan scored a kill to inch closer at 17-20.

After both teams exchanged some service errors, Salas shut the door on the Flying Titans with back-to-back hits to help the Angels zoom into a commanding 2-0 set lead.

As for Choco Mucho, the Flying Titans dropped their second successive game and further fell to 1-4 and no.5 spot in Pool B.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat topscored Choco Mucho with 13 points, becoming the lone double-digit scorer for the back-to-back All-Filipino silver medalists. Import Zoi Faki only managed to score three markers as Isa Molde and Royse Tubino combined for 11 points.

With the score tied at 18, Petro Gazz leaned on a raging 7-0 closing run in the opening salvo behind Brooke Van Sickle who scored three points during that stretch.

Salas punctuated the blazing finish with a whipping cross-court attack to give the Angels the head start.

Round 2 of the PVL Reinforced will commence on Saturday, August 10.
