Former Phoenix Suns center Bol Bol finally joined TNT’s practice less than three weeks before the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup unfurls.
So far, so good for TNT import Bol Bol.
Such was the 7-foot-3 center’s sentiment after joining the Tropang 5G’s practice at Ateneo on Friday, February 20.
“My 24 hours have been good. It’s a beautiful weather, has some good food, great scenery. Excited to get started,” he said in a video posted by the team on social media.
With Rondae Hollis-Jefferson out due to an Achilles injury, the Tropang 5G tapped the former Denver Nuggets center for the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup where there’s no ceiling for imports.
His arrival bolstered an already-stacked TNT squad which made the Finals of the last four conferences.
This will be the 44th overall pick by Miami in the 2019 NBA Draft’s first stint outside the NBA since suiting up for the Phoenix Suns from 2023 to 2025.
But whether he is in the NBA or PBA, the goal remains the same for the 26-year-old that already has the league teetering on its heels even before the conference unfurls.
“Just to come in and play hard and win as many games as we can possible,” he said.
“Just make sure we can get much people to the games as we can, fill up the crowd and have a really good season.”
The mid-season conference unfurls on March 11, with the Tropang 5G emerging as early favorites to win it all.
Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.
He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
