SEA Games champion Jamie Lim steps into a new arena as one of the hosts of the PBA’s 50th season opening, honoring the legacy of her father Samboy “The Skywalker” Lim.
Somewhere up there, The Skywalker must be smiling.
From striking gold to striking a mic pose, Jamie Lim is proving that her talents shine far beyond the mats.
The SEA Games karate champion is now making her mark as a sports host, following her PVL debut and now, her PBA 50th season opening appearance in the very league where her father, the legendary Samboy “The Skywalker” Lim, once soared.
“It’s such a nice experience kasi paiba-iba ‘yung ginagawa ko,” Jamie shared with One Sports..
“It’s such an honor kasi sa PVL, I love covering the girl stories. This time naman, hosting the PBA 50th, such a grand celebration, another full circle moment for me.”
That “full circle” hits even deeper for the young Lim, who last year walked the same court as the muse of the San Miguel Beermen, her dad’s old team.
“Kasi syempre daddy ko, [one of the] PBA Greatest 50 Players. And I was here last year as a muse for SMB. And now naman magho-host ako, so it’s a surreal moment,” she said.
Seeing familiar faces from her father’s era made the experience even more special.
“Kasi barkada nina daddy sila Tito Alvin [Patrimonio], sina Jojo Lastimosa, sila Papa Bear [Benjie Paras], and it’s nice to see them again.”
For Jamie, stepping into the PBA spotlight doesn’t just feel like another job.
“It feels like home talaga kasi. I'm very new to hosting but it really feels special na I’m in the PBA and it’s the 50th year.”
She summed it up perfectly in her Instagram post:
“From PBA 49 Muse to PBA 50 Host 💛 Full circle moment growing up with my father, The Skywalker, as my idol and inspiration, to being the muse of his team, and now hosting the PBA in its 50th year. Forever grateful, it feels like home.”
