Team Japeth and Team Mark but on a competitive and entertaining show in Bacolod for the 2024 PBA All-Star Game on Sunday, leading to a 140-140 draw.

CJ Perez put up a game-high 39 points, as his heroics kept Team Mark within striking distance before halftime.

But Japeth Aguilar sparked his squad in the fourth quarter, while Robert Bolick scored nine straight in under 35 seconds to tie the ball game.

It was the first time that the All-Star Game ended in a draw since 2017.

At the time, the PBA All-Star Week had three legs, which started in Cagayan de Oro.

Gilas Pilipinas took on the Mindanao All-Stars, which led to a 114-114 draw. With 1:03 seconds left, June Mar Fajardo put Gilas Pilipinas in the lead, 114-111.

After the timeout, Mark Barroca answered back with a three-pointer of his own for the Mindanao All-Stars, tying the ball game at 114-all with 49 seconds remaining.

Terrence Romeo missed what would have been the game-winning basket, and Jio Jalalon ran away with the ball. The Mindanao All-Stars had a shot, but it didn't go in.

Troy Rosario and Matthew Wright were hailed as the Players of the Game with 28 and 22 points respectively.

The 2008 edition of the PBA All-Star Game in Bacolod also had a tight fourth quarter.

The South All-Stars was up by two with 10.4 seconds left, when North All-Stars' Mark Caguioa threw the ball to Ranidel de Ocampo for a quick two. James Yap had a chance to win it in his home province but missed.

Players asked for five more minutes, egging on the crowd to stretch the game to overtime. The league officials acquiesced, giving way to a 163-158 South All-Stars win.

PJ Simon was hailed Player of the Game with 29 points.

Japeth Aguilar wanted to make the 2024 edition competitive. And for him, last Sunday's result turned out for the better.

"Napaganda pa, napaganda," Aguilar told One Sports. "Actually mas maganda pa yung nangyari."

"Kasi kung iisipin mo, kung may nanalo or may natalo, in a couple of years makakalimutan na eh," the big man pointed out. "Pero kung lahat panalo, lahat masaya, magiging memorable."
