Anthony was sensational all game long.
A short break was what NLEX Road Warriors veteran Sean Anthony needed.
With fresh legs, Anthony did the heavy lifting in NLEX's 95-87 thumping of NorthPort Batang Pier in the PBA On Tour on Wednesday.
Playing more minutes than usual, Anthony wound up with game-high 25 points to go with 8 rebounds and 3 steals in a little over 37 minutes of action.
“Coach gave us some days off last week. My legs are feeling fresh today,” said Anthony after the match at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Still, he made sure to attribute the win to the rest of the team, who stepped up on both ends in the fourth period when NorthPort was threatening to claw back from a 14-point deficit.
Arvin Tolentino led a mini uprising after nailing back-to-back triples to trim the gap to 8, 93-85 with less than two minutes remaining. Fortunately for the Road Warriors, Tolentino botched all three freebies from the foul line seconds later, effectively ending the run.
Clint Doliguez scored 14 points, while Kris Rosales and Don Trollano added 13 and 12, respectively, for NLEX.
“It’s a good team win. A lot of guys stepped in the end, Kevin (Alas) hit some big baskets down the stretch, Don heated up a little bit in the fourth quarter, and we made stops when needed,” Anthony said.
Anthony and the Road Warriors will next take on the Meralco Meralco Bolts on Wednesday.
