What if your next run could help send a student to school? The Tzu Chi Charity Run 2025 makes every step a powerful act of compassion.
When you're lacing up your running shoes for another 5K, 10K, or even a half marathon, you may be doing it for fitness, for fun, or for a personal milestone. But what if every step you took also meant a step forward for someone else’s future?
That’s the mission behind the Tzu Chi Charity Run 2025, officially launched by Tzu Chi Philippines and RunRio Inc. on Tuesday. Slated for July 20 at Bridgetowne, Pasig City, the run invites the public not just to run—but to run with purpose.
“A lot of people run for health, for several reasons,” says Peggy Sy, Deputy CEO of Tzu Chi Philippines. “With Tzu Chi’s Charity Run, they can actually run, have fun, and also be our donors and be catalysts for change.”
Led by Tzu Chi Philippines CEO Henry Yuñez, Deputy CEO Peggy Sy, and RunRio General Manager Andrew Neri, the launch unveiled not just the race kits—but the real reason behind the cause: helping students, changing lives.
Why Run for a Cause?
As shared by Neri, Tzu Chi’s educational scholars are the heart of the event. Among them is Esmeralda Daganasol, whose journey from hardship to hope has only been made possible through the foundation’s support.
“Last year po, 6,000 ang tumakbo at nakatulong po ‘yon sa 200 scholars,” says Esmeralda. “This year, we’re aiming for 8,000 runners to help 300 scholars.”
Through the run, participants help fund scholarships and life-changing assistance for underserved youth. Every registration fee becomes a donation. Every kilometer logged becomes a step closer to someone’s dream.
“When you do a run, it’s not only a run for health—it’s really a run of hope,” adds Neri.
Do One Good Deed Every Day
That’s the guiding mantra of Tzu Chi Foundation. The Charity Run is just one of many avenues where people can give back—seamlessly blending personal wellness with social compassion.
“It’s a platform to spread kindness,” says Peggy Sy. “For every kilometer that they run, we want these people who are into running to also be given an opportunity to do something more.”
So if you’ve ever asked, “What more can I do while doing what I love?”—this is your answer.
Run not just to finish, but to uplift. Every step counts. Every stride makes a difference.
