Eya Laure emphasizes growth and continuity for Alas Pilipinas as the national team builds on its back-to-back international stints.
In just a few months, Eya Laure has gone from being the first player to train with Alas Pilipinas to now being one of its most trusted voices amid all the pressure and responsibility.
Fresh off back-to-back international tournaments, Laure believes the national team is slowly but surely finding its true chemistry and form.
“Malaking pasasalamat ako sa mga nagiging ka-teammates ko kasi ‘yung trust na nabubuo namin from AVC to VTV ay malaking bagay sa progress na sinasabi namin sa team na kailangan talagang maranasan. Hindi talaga laging mananalo, pero matututo,” Laure told reporters
The 26-year-old spiker was among the key holdovers from Alas Women’s historic silver-medal finish in the 2025 AVC Women’s Nations Cup for the 2025 VTV Cup.
There, the Philippine squad pulled off a gritty fourth-place finish, led by plenty of newcomers such as Brooke Van Sickle, Tia Andaya, Alleiah Malaluan, and Amie Provido.

With more players joining the fold, Laure echoed the sentiments of veteran leaders Jia de Guzman and Dawn Catindig about keeping the group together and building within a consistent system.
“Sabi nga ni ate Jia, ate Dawn, kailangan same people. We need to add more people pero same system. Siyempre bit by bit talaga, every single day sa training pa lang ay pinagtatrabahuan na ng bawat isa,” she said.

Laure was also one of the key faces in the recent celebration of World Volleyball Day and proudly served as an ambassador for the upcoming 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship, which the Philippines is set to host this September.
“Through volleyball, marami ding na-iinspire. Ang daming storyang nabubuo na maganda dahil sa volleyball,” said Laure. “Once in a lifetime masasabi ko na isa ako sa mga naging ambassador.”
“Super happy ako kasi nandiyan pa rin ‘yung Alas Pilipinas Women’s, Men’s, and beach volleyball. Sobrang saya lang na nagsama-sama at nagkaroon ng time para i-celebrate ang World Volleyball Day,” she added.
For now, the work continues for Laure and Alas Women as they continue training this week in preparation for the SEA V.League in August.
