The world mourns the passing of football great Pelé

Football icon Pelé has died at age 82. The Brazilian legend remains as the only player to become three-time World Cup winner. Pundits and fans consider him as one of the game's greatest ever, if not the greatest.

Without a shadow of a doubt, the immeasurable impact he left in the game will forever be remembered.

Lionel Messi, who recently won the World Cup and cemented his legacy alongside that of Pelé, shared his photos with the football icon.

Cristiano Ronaldo, another football great, said, "A mere 'goodbye' to the eternal King Pelé will never be enough to express the pain that the entire football world is currently embracing."

Neymar, who also hails from Brazil like Pelé, highlighted the contributions of the late legend not just to Brazil, but to football itself. He said, "soccer and Brazil have raised their status thanks to the King!"

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano and footballers Thiago Silva and Erling Haaland only had good words for Pelé.

Former US President Barack Obama, meanwhile, recalled how Pelé took to heart the power of sports.

Rest in peace to the great Edson Arantes do Nascimento aka Pelé.
