World No. 4 Team USA overcame a shaky start to oust Slovenia, 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20, in the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship Round of 16 at the MOA Arena in Pasay Monday night, Sept. 22.

The Americans now march on to the quarterfinals for the third straight time, while forcing Slovenia, fourth-placer in 2022, to the exit door.

Coming off a first-set defeat, Team USA quickly recovered behind the superb outing of Gabi Garcia, who finished with 24 points built on 15 attacks, four blocks and five aces.

Garcia was backed by Ethan Champlin and Jordan Ewert, who had 15 and 13 markers, respectively.

Team USA dominated the service line, producing 12 points from there against the mere two of its foe.

The Americans will face Bulgaria in the quarterfinals Thursday, Sept. 25, at the same venue.
