A first-ever WTA trophy was not to be for Alex Eala as she bowed to Maya Joint in the Eastbourne Open Finals.
Alex Eala put up a valiant effort but still fell short against Maya Joint, 4-6, 6-1, 6-7(10) in the Eastbourne Open finals in Great Britain Saturday, June 28.
Eala was aiming to become the first-ever Filipina to lift a WTA trophy.
Instead, it was the 19-year-old Australian who copped another hardware after winning her first title in Rabat just last month.
