Olympic skateboarder Margielyn Didal still got plenty of smiles and fun to share even as she continues her road to recovery from an ankle injury.

Didal, who competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, returned to the Japan capital for the World Skateboarding Tour (WST) Street World Championship 2023.

She wasn't able to make the cut after the opening qualifiers, finishing 39th. But it's all part of the journey.

"Arigatou 🇯🇵 Moments in Japan for World Championship," she posted on Instagram on Tuesday.

"Ankle still not 💯 but I had fun skating. Can’t wait to be in the streets soon ?🏽" Didal added.

Not gonna lie, all the sushi in the last photo made us hanker for a Japan food trip!

Japanese newcomer Yumeka Oda ran away with the top spot with the highest-scoring trick of the contest, a kickflip frontside feeblegrind, with a score of 94.80.

Brazil's Rayssa Leal, the reigning champion, finished second with a 90.91 with a kickflip backside lipslide.

Meanwhile, Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Momiji Nishiya finished third with a suski grind and a crooked grind nollie heelflip.

Can Margie still make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The world number 43 still has a shot of improving her rank in the Dubai stop of the WST in March.

After that, 44 skateboarders per discipline and per division will be eligible to compete in Phase 2 of the qualification. Only 22 spots are allotted for the female street skateboarders in Paris.
