They are truly sports heroes.
It’s one thing to go to practice early in the morning. It’s another to do it every single day, without fail.
Yep, a winning trait that all winners share is having the resolve to stay consistent at what they do, no matter what.
In the case of the Filipinas, following through on what they started, in terms of inspiring the youth and elevating the status of football in the Philippines, has become a habit.
Since qualifying for the FIFA Women’s World Cup last year, the Filipinas haven’t slowed down one bit. No wonder, they’re one of the country’s best bets.
On Monday, they were at it again, as they met up with the young girls who appeared in the Filipinas’ emotional FIFA Women’s World Cup roster announcement video. This time, it’s about giving them a Christmas treat.
The kids are members of the Tondo Footbal Club and the Gawad Kalinga teams from Cavite and Mandaluyong. They were picked to act in the inspirational video as members of the Filipinas ahead of the beautiful game’s grandest stage.
It was a lovely sight indeed, as Filipinas captain Hali Long, goalkeeper Inna Palacios, and midfielder Anicka Castañeda spent time with the young booters.
Along with Filipinas manager Jefferson Cheng, the little girls ate pizza with their idols—what beats that?—and were treated to some shopping, courtesy of the team’s official sportswear Adidas.
Chalk up another huge win for the Filipinas.

Once the holiday break is over, expect them to keep up the good work. On and off the pitch.
