"Time flies so fast!"

Tokyo 2020 gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz on Tuesday shared a sweet message on Instagram, as she celebrated her wedding anniversary and Olympic winning moment with her husband-coach Julius Naranjo.

"We might not be together at the moment, it brings me joy knowing we’re contributing positively and doing something for the love of sports and weightlifting," Diaz wrote.

"Let’s spread our wings together, continue to learn, and love each other with God at the center of our relationship."

On July 26, 2021, weightlifter Diaz made history by becoming the first Filipino to win the gold medal at the Olympic Games.

She vowed to compete one more time, at the Paris 2024 Olympics, with the help of her husband.

"Even before you became my husband, I felt blessed to have you as my coach that strengthened me, pushed my limits, strategized every competition and always initiated the team to talk our goals and ambitions," Diaz shared.

Diaz chose the same date, July 26, as her wedding day last year.
And it seems the stretch of July 25 to 26 is an auspicious day for Filipina athletes. It was on July 25 this year after all, when the Filipinas won their first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup match against New Zealand.

It was on July 25 too, when the Blu Girls got their first victory in the WBSC Women's Softball World Cup group stage this year. And yes, it was against the Kiwis too.

Will there be more Filipinas soaring to new heights next year? Who knows? Maybe things will turn out golden on July 26, 2024—the start of the Paris Olympics.
