Quentin Millora-Brown was a joy to watch in recently-concluded opening window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers.

Dwight Ramos said so on Monday, after the Philippines improved to a 2-0 record in Group A.

“QMB is my roommate too so we got close. I love the way he plays,” said Ramos after Gilas Pilipinas’ 95-71 win over Guam at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

“He’s not scared to challenge shots. He’s physical down there in the paint. Looking forward to seeing him again and his improvement.”

Gilas coach Tim Cone couldn’t agree more with Ramos, who finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, and two steals as the top local for Gilas against Guam.

Two games into what could be a long, storied national team career, QMB is only going to get better, according to Cone.

“He’s just scratching the surface of his ability to help us. We’re still exploring his game, he’s exploring his game within the system. There s a lot of levels for him to go,” Cone said.

The former University of the Philippines standout normed 7.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game against Guam.

More than his numbers, what the 6-foot-10 center also brings to table is his ability to defend both bigs and guards.

“The initial look is he’s just what the doctor ordered. He’s that weak side big man, he’s a really strong defender,” Cone said of QMB.

“He battled (Tai) Wesley really well then went around and battled (Jonathan) Galloway really well. And those guys are really high level. He’s a very active big and again, that’s just what the doctor ordered for us.”

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
