The still-winless UE Red Warriors will have to make do without key player Wello Lingolingo for the next three games in UAAP Season 88.
Wello Lingolingo has been slapped with a three-game suspension following an unsportsmanlike foul (Criteria 2) in the UE Red Warriors’ loss against the DLSU Green Archers in their first round meeting in UAAP Season 88 on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Lingolingo, who was ejected in the game, will serve his suspension starting Sunday, October 19, and will extend for the first two games in the second round. UE is currently 0-6 for the year.
The suspension comes after Lingolingo got tangled up in a sequence that led to La Salle’s Kean Baclaan suffering a season-ending MCL injury in the latter part of the fourth quarter of the game that extended to overtime.

Lingolingo dove for the ball at the 4:21 minute mark of the fourth, landing on the right knee of Baclaan and causing the injury.
In a statement released on Thursday, the UAAP meted the harsh sentence.
“Upon review, it was determined that the foul involved excessive and forceful contact made by a player in an attempt to play the ball or an opponent.” they said.
UE will be able to file a motion for reconsideration regarding the suspension, according to the UAAP.
