The Ateneo Blue Eagles begin their quest for redemption in UAAP Season 88 with a tough opening-day assignment against the FEU Tamaraws.
The Ateneo Blue Eagles look to start fresh as they take on the FEU Tamaraws in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball opener on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 2:00 p.m. at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Coming off a difficult 4-10 finish last season, the Blue Eagles are determined to turn over a new leaf.
Spearheading their bid is star point guard Jared Bahay, who brings energy and playmaking to the backcourt, alongside steady contributors Josh Lazaro and Shawn Tuano.
Ateneo hopes the trio can spark a resurgence and restore the program’s winning tradition after sliding to the bottom of the standings last year.
Their opening-day challenge will come from an FEU squad entering its second season under head coach Sean Chambers.
The Tamaraws are also looking to bounce back from a subpar 5-9 record in Season 87, and will rely on holdovers Jorick Bautista and Mo Konateh to carry the fight following the departure of Veejay Pre.
With both teams eager to rebound from last year’s struggles, Ateneo vs. FEU promises to set the tone for a highly-competitive season as two proud programs chase redemption.
