UAAP: NU, La Salle renew rivalry as Season 87 women's volleyball Finals begin Sunday

UAAP volleyball reaches its peak this weekend as the men’s and women’s finals begin on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with the anticipated matchup between the NU Lady Bulldogs and the DLSU Lady Spikers highlighting the action.

 

Appearing in three of the last four finals, NU and La Salle tussle once more to break a 1-1 tie in their post-pandemic UAAP championship head-to-head.

 

Now, Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon go up against Angel Canino and Shevana Laput to have the final say in the third edition of their rivalry series. As the top seed, the Lady Bulldogs will be favored in the best-of-three affair.

 

But La Salle is currently riding the momentum from two big wins against erstwhile tormentors UST. 

 

In his 21st finals appearance for La Salle, head coach Ramil de Jesus will hope to bring in another era of success, despite early struggles ushering their campaign in UAAP Season 87.

 

Game One is slated to begin at 5 p.m., and will be a separate ticket offering from the men’s finals scheduled that day at 1 p.m..

 

The same time table applies for the second and third games in the series.

 

Game Two will feature at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, May 14. The Pasay venue will also host the winner-take-all Game Three, if necessary, on Saturday, May 17.

 

While the women’s finals is already set, the FEU Tamaraws are awaiting their finals opponent at the moment and will depend on the winner of Wednesday’s do-or-die match between the UST Golden Spikers and the four-time defending champions NU Bulldogs.
