On the day UST appointed Alfrancis Chua as special assistant to the rector for sports, the Growling Tigers also welcomed another recruit into their lair.

Meet Vince Ventulan.

Ventulan played college ball with the Ave Maria Gyrenes where he averaged 4.8 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 rebounds in the 20222023 season.

He is a 6-foot-4 winger who can drive and space the floor for the Growling Tigers, who also secured the commitment of rookies SJ Moore and Mark Llemit.

The 23-year-old is hell-bent on making his one-and-done year for the Growling Tigers count.

“I’m excited to play another year of basketball here. I feel like I have great size and length, and I want to make winning plays for the team,” said Ventula, whose parents trace their roots to Cebu and Bohol.

The feeling is mutual for Coach Pido Jarencio, who is tasked to rebuild the team from the ground up and regain lost glory.

“Magandang addition para sa 'min si Vince dahil makakadagdag siya sa athleticism namin dito sa team,” he said.

With additional backing, it is highly likely that UST will secure more firepower in the coming months.
