UAAP football gave new sports facilities in Imus, Cavite, a litmus test by holding the first few game days in an upgraded pitch as usual venue UP continued its renovations in Diliman.

The Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub recently made changes to complement its FIFA-certified Football Field and World Athletics-certified track oval to host the premier collegiate football tournament.

Among upgrades include a new grandstand, premium player dugouts, and a modern media center.

“Our mission at the Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub has always been to provide world class sports facilities for all types of athletes, for all levels of play, and be a platform for grassroots sports development,” said Nona Torres, Vermosa Senior Project Development Head.

Safety and comfort at the helm

The venue’s grandstand has a seating capacity of 1200 spectators, which is designed for both optimal viewing and safety.

Meanwhile, the dugouts feature modern showers, recovery areas, and secure storage spaces.

UAAP Football Tournament Commissioner Rely San Agustin said that the new venue will help enhance performance for the players overall.

“Having the UAAP community as the first to experience these upgrades is a source of great pride. We believe these improvements will significantly enhance the overall experience for players and supporters, fostering greater engagement and passion for the sport,” San Agustin said.

Currently, UP is the pace setter in men’s football with two wins in two matches played for a full six points. Meanwhile, La Salle has played a game in advance for three wins in the women’s division to top the table with nine points.

AVSH’s role as one of the football venues of the UAAP is just one part of its broader campaign that seeks to promote active lifestyles.

Other facilities within the hub include an Aquatic Center, and an Athletics Center.
