Kungfu Reyes continues to polish UST's game, seeks to build endurance ahead of DLSU match

Kungfu Reyes continues to polish UST
UAAP

It only took the University of Sto. Tomas Golden Tigresses one hour and 14 minutes to sweep the University of the East Lady Red Warriors in the second round of UAAP Season 85, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.

And this time, the Golden Tigresses only had 15 errors. It was a far cry from the 32 they committed in the four-set loss to the Adamson Lady Falcons last Saturday.

"Napo-polish kung ano 'yung lapses during that match. Binabalik-balikan talaga namin," coach Kungfu Reyes told reporters after the match. "More on repetition talaga hanggang mapakintab 'yung galaw namin. 'Pag nagawa namin 'yun magiging madulas na rin kami."

"Para na rin kaming magiging palos, madulas!"

Reyes didn't let up on his metaphors following UST's bounce back win.

"Medyo magaspang 'yung galaw 'pag natatalo kami, kalat-kalat error namin," he said, noting that the Golden Tigresses are still working on developing their individual skills and how to translate what they have trained from training to the actual matches.

Their next match though poses an even tougher challenge than the game against Adamson. UST will be facing the undefeated De La Salle Lady Spikers on Sunday, April 2, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Reyes noted their adjustments will depend on who will be running hot, along with building a lot of endurance especially after seeing their first-round matchup go to five sets.

"Kung kaya namin sumabay sa ibabaw gagawin namin. Kukuha kami ng upuan, tatayuan namin sila dun, magbabantay kami sa taas," he joked.

"Basta 'di mapagod. 'Di namin kaya magpatangkad ng player, 'yung pundasyon ay endurance."
