Crucial errors cost UST rematch against Adamson
UAAP

Win first, pahinga later.

The Adamson Lady Falcons started the second round of the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament in winning fashion on Saturday, once again fending off the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, 11-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-22.

UST actually had a strong start at the PhilSports Arena, delivering 11 attacks compared to Adamson's four in the first frame.

Lady Falcons captain and top setter Louie Romero, who made 19 excellent sets, attributed this to the tough training they had the day prior, which lasted three hours.

"Siguro nung first set medyo mabigat kami," Romero told the media after the match.

"Sabi ko sa kanila, mamaya na lang magpahinga o bukas. I-execute lang talaga kung ano tine-training namin," she added.

Coach Jerry Yee has no regrets.

"Ganun talaga, second round na," he said. "Meron tayong rest, meron tayong ice bath. Magca-catch up pa rin 'yung fatigue. Buti nag-respond sila today."

They bounced back and overcame the Golden Tigresses in a tight second set.

In the third frame, UST crumbled. They only made 6 successful attacks compared to Adamson's 9. The Golden Tigresses' 12 costly errors also had a factor in giving the Lady Falcons the third set.

That, and star rookie Trisha Tubu who scored 21 points overall. She was the only Lady Falcon in double-digits.

Overall, UST tallied 32 errors in the match compared to Adamson's 18, which put Eya Laure's 5 aces to waste.

As of this writing, Adamson is now at solo second with a 6-2 record, while UST is at 5-3. The Lady Falcons will next face a rising Ateneo Blue Eagles squad on April 1, while the Golden Tigresses will take on a win-hungry University of the East Lady Red Warriors on March 29.
