The Petro Gazz Angels aim to sustain their late-round surge as they face the powerhouse PLDT High Speed Hitters in the main game of the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference on Thursday, November 20, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Coming off one of their strongest outings of the conference, the Angels enter the match with renewed confidence after a crucial four-set victory over the Capital1 Solar Spikers.

The win was powered in large part by MJ Phillips’ spectacular 19-point performance. The powerful middle blocker was dominant on both ends, hammering quick attacks, delivering timely blocks, and stabilizing the team in key stretches to keep their quarterfinal hopes firmly alive.

At 4-3, Petro Gazz remains in the middle of a congested playoff race, where a single result can drastically shift seeding from sixth to eighth.

A win over the High Speed Hitters would give the Angels valuable separation, while a loss could place them in danger of sliding to the No. 8 spot depending on earlier outcomes.

Phillips’ continued consistency will be crucial as Petro Gazz braces for PLDT’s elite frontline. Alongside Brooke Van Sickle and Lindsey Vander Weide, she forms the core of a Petro Gazz squad capable of trading blows with any contender when playing disciplined, attacking volleyball.

While the challenge ahead is immense, the Angels have shown they can rise to the moment, having all the tools to push the High Speed Hitters to the brink and potentially shake up the entire playoff picture.

The Petro Gazz–PLDT clash caps Thursday’s triple-header at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on Pilipinas Live. It will also be aired on One Sports.
