Actor and former Philippine Volcanoes player Eric “Eruption” Tai praised his former teammate Justin Coveney for showing true leadership during Team Philippines’ run in Netflix’s Physical: Asia.
Actor and former Philippine Volcanoes player Eric “Eruption” Tai expressed pride in his former national teammate Justin Coveney following Team Philippines’ elimination in Netflix’s Physical: Asia.
“I’m very proud of what he did. Justin, he showed true leadership and that was something we’ve known Justin to have while we were playing together. Kasi batchmate ko ‘yan eh. Same time kaming naglalaro for the national team. And it’s just awesome to see,” Tai said.
Team Philippines became the third team eliminated from the competition after a dramatic loss to host South Korea.
Newcomer Justin Hernandez struggled in the sack throw challenge, ultimately falling short despite more than 120 laps of effort.
The elimination came shortly after boxing legend Manny Pacquiao’s exit, leaving Coveney as team captain.

Tai saluted the entire squad for their effort.
“It’s unfortunate with the result pero men, they played hard, they trained hard, they did their very best and left everything on the course. Thank you sa lahat ng nag-compete, lahat ng mga atleta sa Physical Asia. Respect at saludo,” he added.
