The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles spoiled the highly anticipated debut of Ces Molina and Riri Meneses with the Farm Fresh Foxies, pulling off a straight-set victory in the Davao Invitational Volleyball Tournament.
ZUS Coffee rained on Farm Fresh’s much-awaited debut of Ces Molina and Riri Meneses, cruising to a straight-set victory, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22, in the Davao Invitational Volleyball Tournament at the USEP Gym in Bo. Obrero, Davao City, on Thursday, September 4.
The Thunderbelles, buoyed by the last-minute exposure in the PVL Invitational Conference, showcased composure in the crucial stretches of all three sets, leaning on their depth and balance to keep the Foxies at bay.
Jovelyn Gonzaga set the tone with her steady scoring, while Chinnie Arroyo and Fiola Ceballos added some much-needed support for ZUS Coffee.
Molina, suiting up as a started for the first time since her move from Cignal, gave a glimpse of her veteran wits and offensive punch. Meanwhile, Meneses, who came off the bench, added her known blocking presence in the middle.
Despite their debut, the Foxies struggled to sustain momentum, undone by plenty of errors and ZUS Coffee’s tighter endgame execution.
The win marked an ideal start to the Thunderbelles’ Davao campaign and a confidence boost for a squad that finished without a win in the recently-concluded PVL Invitational.
Farm Fresh, meanwhile, will look to regroup as it continues to build chemistry around its new leaders.
Up next for ZUS Coffee will be the DLSU Lady Spikers, while Farm Fresh faces the CSB Lady Blazers. Both games are set tomorrow, still in the same venue.
