Each rookie’s experience when plunging into professional sports is different, and every player finds motivation in various things — from individual accolades to team accomplishments.

But for ZUS Coffee’s AC Miner, there’s something alluring about being able to get her feet wet in the PVL in special circumstances.

That is, she’s getting used to playing professionally in the set-up of a preseason tournament, one that has also been traveling across the country for its games.

Having spent much of her collegiate career with Ateneo playing in Metro Manila, playing in different cities in the Philippines brought new perspective for the Ateneo alum.

“Very fulfilling po naman kasi not everyday nabibigyan ng chance makanood 'yung mga taga-province, very good kasi ngayon nakakapag-on tour kami sa iba’t ibang regions nakakapagikot yung mga iba-ibang teams sa iba-iba naming nilalaruan so very thankful po kami sa PVL for that,” she said on Sunday.

True enough, playing out of town games has done wonders for Miner, who also registered a PVL-high 19 points in Candon City, Ilocos Sur when ZUS toppled the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in five sets on Tuesday.

But even as she settles into her role with head coach Jerry Yee, Miner does acknowledge that there is more to learn and discover about herself and volleyball as she goes through the motions of her career.

Tasked with continuing to grow a promising ZUS Coffee squad, Miner is ready to learn whatever it takes to take them to the next level.

“Siguro, I would say more to improve on kasi di naman nagsa-stop 'yung volleyball sa a couple of wins, a couple of points, so kami tuloy-tuloy pa rin 'yung laban ko at saka 'yung team kada game,” she said.

Before she gets ahead of herself, Miner and ZUS Coffee have immediate business to take care of: the knockout play-ins.

They face a wounded Choco Mucho squad — which has lost its last four games — in a do-or-die match as the PVL on Tour returns to PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday, August 5.
