The Akari Chargers put an end to their three-game losing skid after overpowering the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Akari Chargers ended their three-game skid in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after a hard-fought win over the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 25-20, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, December 10.
The Chargers overcame a first-set defeat where the Crossovers pulled off a 10-3 run to snatch the frame.
Akari looked like it was about to lose the second set as well, but Ivy Lacsina and Grethcel Soltones turned things around to steal the crucial win.
With momentum on their side, the Chargers closed out the third and fourth sets en route to the bounce-back victory after three straight losses.
Chery Tiggo managed to tie the game in the fourth at 17-all after a down-the-line attack by Ara Galang, capping a 9-2 blast.
But Akari’s blocking came alive late in the match to restore a four-point lead. Soltones would then close the game out with an off-the-block hit.
Soltones powered the Chargers with 22 points on 20 attacks, one block, and one service ace.
Akari will head into the break with a win as the Chargers now prepare for a highly-anticipated match against the PLDT High Speed Hitters on January 18 at the same venue.
Chery Tiggo, on the other hand, still has a match on hand on Saturday, December 14 against the Galeries Tower Highrisers.
