There’s more to our PBA players than emphatic dunks or swishes from way beyond the arc.
We’ve seen how June Mar Fajardo dominates the post, or Jayson Castro cruises past two or three defenders, or how Paul Lee lights up from the three-point area. But there’s more to our PBA players than emphatic dunks or swishes from way beyond the arc.
There’s a whole different life for each of them outside basketball, and we list down some of them for you.
Arwind Santos the singer-composer
In 2014, the former PBA MVP released his first single, “Bagyo.”
The song, part of an album that included 12 songs he wrote, received mixed reactions from fans but it didn’t really matter.
Like storms, the Beermen then, led by Santos, Fajardo, Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter, and Chris Ross, were wreaking havoc in the PBA.
JC Intal the painter
Figuring out what comes next after basketball is usually a struggle for most cagers.
But for JC Intal, who retired in 2021 after a storied 13-year career, it was an opportunity to reignite an old passion: painting.
He dipped his toes into the art world right away and even put up a solo exhibition in Art Fair Philippines called “Second Quarter,” an ode to his basketball roots. One of his artworks is also part of the renowned Pinto Art Museum.
June Mar Fajardo the gamer
It’s no secret that Fajardo, when he’s resting from taking out his defenders in the PBA, he enjoys playing online games.
DOTA 2 is his favorite, one he plays with close pal Marc Pingris and fellow Gilas mainstay Japeth Aguilar.
He is so into esports that he has an impressive gaming room at his condo.
Whether he is as dominant in games as he is in basketball is a big question mark. Maybe we can ask Pingris and Aguilar.
