The much-anticipated debut of the revamped Converge FiberXers unfolds on opening day of the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup when they take on guest squad Macau Black Knights on Wednesday, March 11.

Tipoff is set at 7:30 p.m., right after the 5:15 p.m. curtain-raiser between the Terrafirma Dyip and the Titan Ultra Giant Risers at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Converge enters the new conference carrying lofty expectations after bolstering its roster with high-profile additions in Calvin Abueva, Mikey Williams, and Jonnel Policarpio.

The trio joins an already promising young core bannered by Juan Gomez de Liaño, Justine Baltazar, Justin Arana, and Alec Stockton.

With that mix of experience and youth, the FiberXers are widely viewed as one of the teams capable of making a deep run this conference.

Converge has reached the quarterfinals in each of the last four tournaments, but the franchise is eager to finally break through and reach the semifinals.

Still, Arana insisted the team is keeping its feet firmly on the ground despite the buzz surrounding its new-look roster.

“Treat lang naming this conference one game at a time. Hindi naming pwedeng sabihing malakas na kami kasi bilog ang bola. May lack of chemistry pa. Pagtatrabahuhan pa naming yung chemistry,” said Arana.

That chemistry will immediately be tested against Macau, which will be reinforced by explosive import Tony Mitchell.

The Black Knights are expected to lean heavily on Mitchell’s scoring and athleticism as they try to spoil Converge’s highly anticipated debut.

Earlier in the day, all eyes will be on No. 1 overall pick Geo Chiu who will finally make his PBA debut for Terrafirma.

Chiu skipped the Philippine Cup due to his commitments with MPBL team Abra, but the towering big man now gets his long-awaited first taste of first play-for-pay league in Asia.

The games will air live on the One Sports YouTube page worldwide, as well as in the Pilipinas Live app, RPTV, and PBA Rush.
