Meralco leaned on a hot start to score its first win over TNT, 97-89, in Game 3 of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao Friday, Jan. 9.

Unlike in the series opener where it collapsed despite holding a 21-point lead, there was no meltdown this time for the Bolts, who jumped to a 46-32 lead behind CJ Cansino and Bong Quinto.

Since then, Meralco maintained the voltage high enough to chalk up a victory after faltering in the first two games of the best-of-seven series.

The Bolts will now focus on tying the series in Game 4 which is set on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
