With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread, the Phoenix Fuel Masters face a crucial test as they battle the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Wednesday, May 28.

Gametime is set at 7:30 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup.

Phoenix, now at 2-5, knows the stakes—there’s no more room for error with just four games left in the elimination round.

Despite back-to-back losses to league heavyweights San Miguel and Ginebra, the Fuel Masters showed signs of life, particularly in their 119-112 loss to the Gin Kings.

They unleashed a 40-point fourth quarter that nearly upended Ginebra, with Jason Perkins spearheading the rally with 28 points, five rebounds, and five assists. RJ Jazul chipped in 18, while Kenneth Tuffin and Tyler Tio contributed 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Now facing a 4-3 Rain or Shine side also coming off a loss, Phoenix has no choice but to come out firing. Another defeat could all but dash their postseason hopes — but a win could spark the turnaround they desperately need.
