Chris Ross could not have picked a better night to catch fire from downtown, sinking five to help San Miguel outlast Magnolia, 98-91 and retain a perfect record in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup on Friday, April 26 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

Ross uncorked three of those in the fourth period, including one heading into the final minute that doused the Hotshots last attempt at turning things around to hike its immaculate record to 8-0.

More known as a defensive lynchpin, Ross finished with 15 points, two rebounds and two assists for the Beermen, who solidified their hold of the top spot and bolstered their bid for a twice-to-beat incentive in the playoffs.
