Pasig TNT Triple Giga’s promising run in the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Hoops Penang Challenger unfortunately came to an end after falling short in the semifinals.

Despite a late rally, Pasig TNT fell short and lost to China’s Futian squad in the penultimate round with a score of 20-18. The Filipinos finished fourth in the tournament.

Raoul Odou was the top scorer for TNT with 9 points. Almond Vosotros and Gryann Mendoza added 5 points each.

The Triple Giga came into the tournament as the 10th seed, but they climbed all the way up to the semifinals as they duked it out in several close matches.

In the group stage, the Filipino squad lost their opener against Beijing, 21-19. They bounced back strongly in their next match against Lublin Lotto with a resounding 21-13 win to secure a spot in the knockout stage.

Pasig TNT then scored a thrilling 21-18 upset against the third-seeded NY Harlem in the quarterfinals, before ultimately bowing down to Futian in the semis. 

Beijing would go on to win the tournament, outlasting Futian in the final with a score of 21-18.

The Penang tournament serves as a qualifier for the Macau Masters, which is scheduled on July 8-9, 2023. The top two teams in PenangBeijing and Futianare moving on to compete in that tournament as part of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
