The Gilas Pilipinas Women head to Taiwan to play in the 2025 William Jones Cup, as part of the build-up towards the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.
The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s team will be in deep preparation for the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup as they take part in the William Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan this week, facing five teams in just as many days.
Gilas, bannered by mainstay Jack Animam and Fil-Am Notre Dame guard Vanessa de Jesus, flew to Taiwan on Tuesday in time for their first game on Wednesday, July 2. They play everyday until Sunday, July 6.

Of note that Japan and the Chinese Taipei squad that Gilas will face on July 6 are collegiate teams which are also part of the FISU World University Games.
The pocket tournament serves as preparation for Gilas as they are set to compete in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup.
There, they face stiffer competition in the tournament to be held from July 13 to 20 in Shenzhen, China.
The Philippines are in Group B in the tournament where they face Japan, Australia, and Lebanon.
Apart from keeping themselves in Division A, the Philippines will be eyeing a spot in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup by finishing in the Top 6 of the tournament.
