The duo of Alex Eala and Iva Jovic go one-and done this time as they were booted out of the Indian Wells doubles draw.
Alex Eala and Iva Jovic had a short stint in women's doubles at Indian Wells after they were shown the door by Jelena Ostapenko and Hailey Baptiste, 6-2, 6-2, in their first round match on Sunday (PH time).
Eala and Jovic were coming off of late-night singles matches the day prior before plunging into doubles action.
Fatigue then may habe played a role for the Filipino-American tandem as Eala and Jovic were unable to get things going against the wild card pair of Ostapenko and Baptiste.
Ostapenko and Baptiste set the tone in the opening set, zooming to a 4-0 lead.
Even as Eala and Jovic got some momentum on their side with back-to-back games, they just couldn't stop the inevitable as Ostapenko and Baptiste claimed the first set, 6-2.
It was the same story in the second set, with Eala and Jovic unable to change the pace.
The loss signals the end of Jovic's campaign at the BNP Paribas Open, after also falling in singles against Philippine Women's Open winner Camila Osorio in the second round.
Eala, meanwhile, has the chance to go deeper into the competition with her third round match against former doubles partner Coco Gauff on Monday (PH time).
.
Eala will be looking for a bounce back victory after previously losing against Gauff, 6-0, 6-2, in their Dubai Tennis Championships meeting.
