The NBA postponed Sunday's (PH time) Warriors–Timberwolves matchup, citing concerns for the safety and security of the Minneapolis community following a nearby shooting.
The NBA has postponed Sunday’s (PH time) Western Conference matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves due to growing unrest in Minneapolis.
The move comes after federal officers reportedly fatally shot a 37-year-old man, prompting protests and demonstrations around the city, including near the Target Center where the game was to be held.
The NBA said it made the call “to prioritize the safety and security of the Minneapolis community.”
The game has been rescheduled for Monday, January 26 (PH time), turning it into the first half of a back-to-back set as both the teams also slated to meet again a day later.
Golden State (25-21) is looking to end a two-game skid, while Minnesota (27-18) is hoping to recover after dropping five of its last seven games.
Both squads remain firmly inside the Western Conference play-in picture, separated by just 2.5 games.
