Hours after being named an All-Star starter for the first time, Tyrese Maxey came through with another standout two-way effort to snap the Philadelphia 76ers’ two-game skid.
Tyrese Maxey showed exactly why he's an All-Star starter.
Maxey matched a career-high with eight steals while dropping 29 points as the Philadelphia 76ers snapped a two-game slide with a 113-104 win over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, January 20 (PH time).
The first time All-Star starter also dished out eight assists, becoming just the second player in franchise history to record 29+ points, 8+ assists, and 8+ steals in a single game—joining Allen Iverson, who did it back in 2004.
Joel Embiid added 30 points, while Kelly Oubre Jr. contributed 18 as Philadelphia improved to 23-18.
After Pascal Siakam’s triple put Indiana ahead 88-86 early in the fourth quarter, the Sixers answered with an 18-3 run, capped by an Embiid layup that gave Philadelphia a commanding 104-91 lead.
From there, the Sixers extended their advantage to as many as 15 points, securing their first win over the Pacers in two meetings this season.
For Indiana, Andrew Nembhard led the way with 25 points, while Siakam added 24, but it wasn’t enough to stop the slide.
After winning three straight, the Pacers have now dropped three of their last four games, falling to 10-34.
Indiana heads to Boston to face the Celtics (26-15), while Philadelphia aims to protect home court against the Phoenix Suns (25-17).
